The Republic Day Celebrations are carried out in a grand manner every year at Red Fort. The flag hoisting takes place at 9.00 which is followed by the main Republic Day Parade which usually begins at 9.30 a.m. Rehearsals for the event takes place few days before 26th January and on that particular day, a full dress parade is carried out.
The parade takes place along the 5 kms stretch of the Red Fort that begins from the Raisina Hill end of Rashtrapati Bhavan, continues on to Rajpath, touches upon India Gate and finally reaches the iconic Red Fort.
The President of India is escorted by Body guards on horses and the Prime Minister lights a Lamp to pay homage to Amar Jawans, the soldiers who laid their loves for India. The celebrations kick start with flag hoisting ceremony by President with National Anthem being played in background. Then a 21-gun salute is given to be followed by the Parade led by three wings of Armed forces viz., Navy, Air force and Army. The show of strength is displayed which includes an air show as grand finale. The representation of culture of each State is also highlighted as part of the Parade.
